Fuck Phil Robertson Dec19

Fuck Phil Robertson

In the Latest installment of conservatives blaming liberals for that which their own party has been most guilty of, junk television star Phil Robertson has been crowned the new poster child of religious oppression. Despite conservatives long standing history of stuffing the first amendment every time it hasn’t fit their own personal narrative by way of book bans, censorship, and dictating what grown adults do and see in the privacy of their own home … they claim the A&E television network (which many apparently have confused with being a government) has oppressed Phils right to free speech by suspending business relations due to remarks made during an interview with GQ magazine. While my personal knowledge of Phil, who the F he is, and what he is even famous for is fuzzy due to my lack of reality television knowledge … apparently his statements compared gays to drunkards and prostitutes with all the normal conservative biblical rhetoric about going to hell, bestiality and how those who are not like them are responsible for the downfall of society (including a little something about African Americans being better off without civil rights). Whatever, Phil has the right to say whatever the F he wants and if someone were stopping him from doing that this post would be about them. And while I applaud Phil for at least being honest (vs. pretending personal bias and intolerance have nothing to do with it like most who support him) … be it genuine ignorance or business savvy Phil is a racist, homophobic douche-bag. But there is a big difference between A&E not wanting to keep a person like Phil on payroll as a representative of their network … and stripping Phils right to say and believe what he wants. And while A&E may have...

Still Bitching that Obama Won ..? Nov10

Still Bitching that Obama Won ..?...

5 reasons your dumb fucking bumper sticker asking me if I am sorry for voting for Barak Obama makes me think you’re a stupid asshole … 1. I dont regret not wanting to give the keys to the worlds largest nuclear arsenal to someone who believes in ‘creationism’. And its not the fairy tale that offends me … its the lack of rational thought in decision making (or the willingness to lie about it for personal gain). Choosing to believe in something that isn’t true because a person wants to or because it fits a social narrative is dangerous and endorsing that behavior is against my natural instinct to stay alive. 2. Because agree with everything Obama does or not, it requires a kooky conspiracy theory to take the position that his intentions are insincere. Birthers, Death Panels, Gun-Bans, Bengazi, Obama-phones, Solyndra. 3. Because I believe the first amendment is first by design and its Republicans who by vast majority are historically responsible for working to revoke what is unarguably our most important right. More disturbing is motive, which unlike reducing homicides or giving poor kids medicine, almost always revolves around personal gain and corporate interests. 4. Because basic math says it is not in the lower, middle or even middle-upper classes best economic interest to vote republican. Common sense aside, history has proven trickle economic theory is a scam. And I dont have my head in my ass while pretending that the current system isn’t rigged to give the wealthy an economic advantages. 5. Because political orientation shouldn’t be dictated by someones ego.  Elections are not sporting events and loyalty to a home team should have nothing to do with how someone vote. *Bonus Reason: The narcissistic, self-righteous, desperate to tell everyone you’re right...

On Sheep, Wolves and Sheepdogs Oct16

On Sheep, Wolves and Sheepdogs...

So there is this stupid fucking article thats been circulating conservative fantasy land for a while now titled ‘On Sheep, Wolves and Sheepdogs‘ that details ‘the gift of aggression’ and the make believe scenario that gun-obsessed armchair patriots are really just misunderstood combat ready Rambo bad-asses who are essential to the survival of everyone else. Excerpts of this stupid bullshit here: Most of the people in our society are sheep. I mean nothing negative by calling them sheep. To me it is like the pretty, blue robin’s egg. Inside it is soft and gooey but someday it will grow into something wonderful. But the egg cannot survive without its hard blue shell. Police officers, soldiers and other warriors are like that shell, and someday the civilization they protect will grow into something wonderful. For now, though, they need warriors to protect them from the predators. — Let me expand on this old soldier’s excellent model of the sheep, wolves, and sheepdogs. We know that the sheep live in denial; that is what makes them sheep. They do not want to believe that there is evil in the world. — Here is how the sheep and the sheepdog think differently. The sheep pretend the wolf will never come, but the sheepdog lives for that day. After the attacks on September 11, 2001, most of the sheep, that is, most citizens in America said, “Thank God I wasn’t on one of those planes.” The sheepdogs, the warriors, said, “Dear God, I wish I could have been on one of those planes” Its sad in a way to pick this apart as for many the desperation to believe the above is just a defense mechanism for fear and paranoia. All you have to do is look at the...

The Social Experiment Sep20

The Social Experiment...

The Toyota Prius is the most economical vehicle in the US. They are quiet, get 48.5 mpg and have comfortable back seats. Despite some conservative tabloid misinformation campaigns* there are no manufacturing or emissions drawbacks created by the Prius. They don’t require higher maintenance. They don’t consume a higher rate of any raw materials. Even the former director of the CIA drives one and has been quoted saying there is a “patriotic obligation to drive more efficient vehicles”. The proposed experiment goes like this. Find any flag waving, armchair facebook patriot blog or forum that allows 3rd party contributions and post a picture of a Toyota Prius with an open invite to caption the image. The result is like throwing red meat to a pack of starving dumb animals. A frenzy of hate that will have nothing to do with preference or styling … but political stereotypes involving queers, hippies and diesel trucks memes.     When did it get this stupid? Its no secret that the oil companies funnel billions in lobbyist funding to republicans who often pander to the knuckle dragging Ted Nugents of the world. Consequently their propaganda machines perpetuate a negative image of anything that threatens oil consumption. But the mystery is how far past common sense this goes. This isn’t division over social issues like abortion or gay marriage … predicated on junk science or mythology that some are just too stupid to look past. This is staring at a technological advancement that mutually benefits everyone … and then saying  fuck it because it opposes the motives of those they unconditionally (and non-reciprocally) support. Political division has literally escalated to a point where its unfashionable to even respect cars that are economical … because they get good gas mileage and good gas...

Blame the Poor Sep15

Blame the Poor

So my inbox is full of activist alerts that Republicans are in the process of ‘gutting’ welfare. From what I understand that cuts are only going to apply to able-bodied recipients with no kids. A few thoughts on this … First, anyone capable of using a calculator should be able to figure out this isn’t the ‘problem’ with our budget. Welfare constitutes a small fraction of government spending and the effort being expended cutting a small portion of this program will fix nothing. If anything the expected results would be A. more unwanted kids for qualification and B. higher incarceration rates. Regardless … saving money was never the point. To qualify my position … I dont care about the well-being of people. Contrary to pro-welfare stereotypes, I just dont sympathize with the poor not eating nor do I make political decisions based on it. We are over-populated and until people are willing to embrace Eugenic policies the problem needs to fix itself somehow. My position is admitted callous but honest. For this reason I am not opposed to cutting welfare under the above circumstances. There is truth to the fact that its ease of availability does discourage many from becoming self-sufficient. The system itself provides little incentive to not use it when considering benefits vs minimum wage. Republicans however seem to be campaigning on the myth that its the poor people, and poor people alone who are draining the middle class. Not the billions in corporate welfare, the predatory nature of american business, the unnecessary wars the american public was lied into, excessive military spending, mis-allocated government contracts, or Wall Street Bank bailouts …  but the poor people who buy candy bars with foodstamps. Its a brilliant plan because poor people are easy targets....
