Religious ‘unaffiliation’ tops 19%...

Per surveys conducted by the Pew Research Center 1 in 5 americans (19.6%) no longer have any religious affiliation. By historical comparison this percentage was 6% in 1990 and 15% in 2008. Survey involved 19,377 people and was taken over 2011.         Based on parallel studies by the Gallup Organization supporting a projected 1% annual (de)conversion rate as well as historical data from other non-secular societies, 50% of the global population will be Atheist by 2038. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/nigel-barber/atheism-to-defeat-religion-by-2038_b_1565108.html   Counterargument: Critics of the survey question its accuracy on the basis of age and educational demographics, citing that it disproportionately reflected the views of younger age and higher education (lol). Religious activists also argue fundamentalists will successfully ‘out-breed’ the non-religious, despite 10% (and rising) abandonment rates.   Links: http://usatoday30.usatoday.com/news/religion/story/2012-07-19/no-religion-affiliation/56344976/1 http://www.pewforum.org/Unaffiliated/nones-on-the-rise.aspx...

Fox News: The More You Watch the Less You Know...

Per PIPA / Knowledge Networks surveys, Fox News viewers test less capable of making correct assumptions about issues pertaining to politics, foreign policy and current events. Conclusively Fox News is a media operation whose viewers statistically know less than those who don’t watch news at all. While proponents of Fox News argue that ‘all other media outlets are bias’ … there has no evidence presented that is to the contrary of the above nor does logic, facts, history or common sense support notion that as implied, ‘everyone else is wrong’ or ‘in on it’.     … “the more likly were you to watch the fix news channel the more likly you were to have completly incorrect assumption about these things”… “Percentage of respondents getting their news who had 1 or more misconceptions of current events in PIPA polls NPR: 23% Fox: 80%”     Outfoxed: Rupert Murdoch’s War on Journalism: http://www.outfoxed.org/     Links: http://www.pipa.org/OnlineReports/Iraq/IraqMedia_Oct03/IraqMedia_Oct03_rpt.pdf http://www.forbes.com/sites/kenrapoza/2011/11/21/fox-news-viewers-uninformed-npr-listeners-not-poll-suggests/ http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/11/21/fox-news-viewers-less-informed-people-fairleigh-dickinson_n_1106305.html...
